Since 1 January 2015, all public access buildings must be completely accessible to people with disabilities (law no. 2005-102), with convenience stores facing particular scrutiny.
If your store does not meet these requirements, you must prepare a Programmed Accessibility Agenda (Ad'AP).
The Ad'AP is an administrative file (Cerfa 13824*03) to be filed at the town hall including technical information on the accessibility of your public access building and your commitment to making it accessible (more information on the government website).
Before preparing your Ad'AP, you should carry out an accessibility audit. Although the audit is not mandatory for retail stores (classed as category 5 public access buildings), it will allow you to assess the level of accessibility of your establishment, the work to be done, the estimated cost and possible exemptions. These elements are essential in preparing your Ad'AP file.
